40k Istavaan III Loyalist Pre-Heresy

Started the work of painting up my pre-heresy army for next years Standish Standoff. After reading the first few Horus Heresy books I really wanted to put together a pre-heresy army. Spcifically the loyalist from the Traitor legions that get wiped out on Istavaan III. I've gotten the whole force, and then some all assembled at this point. I'm planning a mixed chapter force consisting primarily of Luna Wolves, with Emperor's Children and World Eaters as well. Here we have the primed world eater. I kept each chapter to a specific chest and helm set. World Eaters will have the riveted skull chest.

My Emperor's children are the farthest along. I've actually busted out my spray gun for the frst time to get anice dark purple coat on them for the armor base. The Children consist of Saul Tarvest, Lucious (same as from the Choas Marine codex). I really liked the way Saul came out. I'll be painting the Dead marine he's on as a mix of Choas/pre-heresy emperor's children as at this point in the story the armor was in transition to the to bright purple of the chaos codex.

Last image is my luna wolves. Went digging for some alternate helms with head crest to mark out rank. I was going for the look of the armor from the Second Heresy book. I'll be using the space wolf codex for the list. Want to feild more than 2 HQ's and the build a hero rules of a Wolf Lord are just to good for the feel of these larger than life men. Loken Will lead the Luna Wolves in this fight. Well that's all at this point. More as this progresses. As always click the image for a larger version.

Malifaux: Neverborn, Cherub

This guy was fun to set up even if he isn't the most restrained on his base. I just couldn't get more than the one pin in him to hold him up so he immediatly broke the glue bond and spins on the pin. At least he hasn't come completly free yet. Still I think he works well with Liliths crew. The wings came out fairly well. I could have gone for more coloring but as a cherub I wanted to keep his wings predominatly white/grey in coloring. Looking back thougha nice brown for the leading edge of the wing (the top) would have helped stand out that diffrence and made the model stand out more.

Malifaux: Neverborn, Poltergeist

Definitely enjoy models like these, they take very little real effort to produce excellent miniatures on the table. I of course painted him to match up with my Pandora crew from months ago as he is her totem. I've yet to actually play a game with this piece. I've not touched pandora in months. Still a decent piece. I got in the core Neverborn colors that I have been using to help mark the faction when I am able. Both the purple is their in the skin details and the green is everpresent.

Malifaux: Neverborn, Bad JuJu

So I really wasn't wanting to paint this guy when I started. Moss green with green seemed to much blah. As I got into it though it really started to come together. Mixing up the greens I used and really just picking out details on the model after painted and drybrshing the whole model one color to start with. This system seemed to really help Bad Juju come together.

Malifaux: Outcast, Waldgeist 2

I was reading my way through the Harry Dresden series when I painted this guy. This model is exactly as I was mentaly picturing some of the Fallen from the books, namely the wife who runs the more chaotic branch. Only her form is more bug/locust in style rather than woods. Still this is the pose/look I pictured in my mind.

Malifaux: Outcast, Waldgeist 1

I really enjoy these models. both in working on them as well as on the table. I just love the overall cast of a vegitive predator. I thin think the eyes on these models really pop out at you and bring a level of malice to the piece it didn't have before.
